Not all Democrats…are Democrats.

Not all Democrats are radical/socialist/communists like AOC and Bernie and Warren and Booker and the rest of the current contenders for2020. And I feel for those citizens who have been betrayed by what used to be the Democrat party. I was born just as the Great Depression was going strong. Unless you lived through that horrible span of years you cannot conceive of how bad it was in this country. Remember this: There WERE NO JOBS! My father hauled me and my 2 siblings and mom all over the country looking for a JOB. My father was a proud, hardworking man – but he could not find a job!

President Franklin Roosevelt was a Democrat socialist. BUT the worker programs he instituted back then were necessary FOR THE TIME. My father went into the CCC, the Civilian Conservation Corps. (The NRA of that era was the National Recovery Act, another jobs program.) The CCC men lived in camps where they ate and slept and many of the bridges and parks they built in the 1930s are still standing today. The men were paid a dollar a day. At the end of the month, they were required to send $29 to their families (minus what they were allowed to spend for smokes and chewing tobacco).

One of my earliest memories is sitting on my dad’s shoulders (so I could see over the crowd) in a train yard, in the rain, listening to FDR speaking from the rear platform of a train caboose. I don’t know what he said but the crowd cheered. It was like God speaking. The south was totally Democrat in my youth. Through the ‘’30s and ‘40s Republicans didn’t bother to run against Democrats in the south because FDR got us through the Great Depression with his socialist programs.

But the Democrat party of today is NOT the Democrat Party of my father or yours or your grandfather’s. The radical leftists, with the aid of corrupt media, have taken it over. All you must do is look tht slate of Democrat candidates for the 2020 elections. They struggle to offer more “free” stuff to voters than their opponents when any sensible person knows that nothing is free. Oh, the government gives away billions of dollars in Free housing, Free food stamps, Free welfare checks, Free Medicaid (most of all this going to illegal aliens who pay no taxes) but all that “free stuff” is paid for by you and me. I have to believe that many so-called Democrats don’t buy the socialist bullshit their candidates are promoting and are as conservative as Libertarians and most Republicans (except Mitt Romney who is a RINO).

I think that’s why many former Democrats now call themselves Independents. But who are they going to vote for? With the best economy since World War Two, with unemployment at a 50-year low, with a President who speaks the language of ordinary citizens, I suggest that they only ask themselves one question: Are they better off now than they were through 8 years of the Obama disaster? And then realize that Donald Trump is the man responsible for bringing back the America that we love—a patriotic nation that was lost to us through 40 years of politician presidents.

I am a few years younger than John Beckman but I remember much of what he is talking about in this posting. I remember the start of WWII. As a youth I traveled thru Georgia on a campaign whistle stop trip with Earl Warren supporting Dwight Eisenhower for president. Justice Warren spoke from the platform on the back of an observation car and I was with a group of teen age supporters of President Eisenhower at the time. My father would listen to Fulton Lewis and the News every night at 6:45. I was indoctrinated with the conservative Republican doctrine early.
