What am I?

I don’t know what to call myself. (No, I don’t need any obscene suggestions from you.) I suppose I could be English-American because my mom’s ancestors come from England in 1626. Or, I could be German-American because my dad’s father came from Hamburg, Germany in the early 19th century. I’m just confused.

Of course, what we hear the most is African-Americans and Mexican (or Hispanic)-Americans. Oddly, I don’t think I have ever heard of a Chinese-American. Maybe that is because most Chinese who come to this country, open a business and the whole family works in it. I also don’t think I have heard of a Yugoslavian-American or a Lithuanian-American. I have heard of Italian-Americans, but they don’t seem to make a big deal about it. Except on Columbus Day.

No, it’s the African-Americans and Mexican-Americans we hear about most of the time. And it’s often complaints about how terrible America is. If it’s so horrible, why do they stay here? Real unhyphenated Americans think it’s a pretty nice place to live. Beats the hell out of Venezuela or Iran. I know it makes me a racist and a bigot and a xenophobe (and a homophobe and a transgenderphobe and a woman-hater, and all the rest), but since I don’t hyphenate my ancestry, I am through with this politically correct horse shit. For me, hyphenated names are ridiculous.

It really is time to decide. Either you are an African (and I know you have never even been to Africa) or, you are an American. And the same goes for people from Mexico. Either you are going to be an American and accept our culture and learn our language and assimilate into our society– or you are a Mexican. No more of this Cinco de Mayo or flying the Mexican flag bullshit. If you want to be Mexican, the border works both ways so get your ass back to Mexico.

Of course, American-Americans believe in the Constitution which was inspired by God. And God gives everyone here free will so the choice is up to you. But either be an American – or get the hell out of our country.

If a “white” guy, or girl (I don’t want to be a misogynist), whose folks are from Africa, be able to claim he/she is an African-American?
My guess is he/she would be considered a bigot against African-Americans with “black” skin.
