In World War II, 50,000 Americans died or were wounded fighting on Okinawa. They were fighting for freedom and they were fighting against fascism. Now, 60.000 Okinawans are protesting the presence of U.S. forces based there. Quite simply, they want us out and they are very vocal about it. When you can get 60,000 people shouting, “Americans, leave our country!” you know they mean business.
Sounds fine to me. Most of the economy of that island is funded through the U.S. taxpayers by maintaining our military bases there. So I say, let’s close ‘em down. Then, China will take over, and the Okinawans who are making a good living off the U.S. will become slaves, and the U.S. can use that money here at home. Basically, although the Okinawan politicians who are fomenting these demonstrations won’t admit it, the presence of American Marines and the Air Force is the only thing that protects that island. But…if they reject our protection, let them come under the domination of China and then they will dramatically see the difference between democracy and slavery.
I feel the same way about South Korea and Japan. We’ve had U.S. forces protecting South Korea since the ‘50s and Japan since the ‘40s. And what thanks do we get? The South Koreans and the Japanese want us out of their countries. Let’s be realistic for once, okay? Our country is $19,000,000,000/00 (that’s nineteen TRILLION) dollars in debt, much of our loan being held by China. Unless you want your great, great grandchildren having to work until death to pay off that debt, we must do something about it now.
So why should we be paying to protect places like South Korea, Japan, and Okinawa? Especially if they obviously don’t want us there. We now have a presidential nominee who says that these countries should pay for out protection. I agree. Why should you and I have to pay for it? And since they demonstrate to have us leave…let us leave. These little dip-shit countries don’t know what it’s like to be taken over by the Chinese and the only thing preventing that is our military. Let’s bring our troops and our money home where it will do more good and will be appreciated.
It’s time Uncle Sugar reevaluated our presence in these countries that protest against us. Let’s leave them and then see how much they appreciate becoming Chinese. Someday America will have to fight China, it’s preordained. And there is no question that having bases in places like Okinawa and South Korea would make that war easier to fight (if any war can ever be categorized as “easy”) but in the intervening years there is no reason for us fighting with citizens of countries that we are protecting, if they hate us. It’s time for us to conserve our money, and our military for our own use. Come on home, boys and girls.
