History. Remember it?

.I just saw a beautiful picture of the statue of Louis 14th in France. And it occurred to me that many Americans go to Europe specifically to see the statues and plaques and other memorabilia of Europe’s past, from Roman domination through World War II. And that is as it should be. Europe is preserving its history by retaining statues of kings and queens, criminals and despots, the good and the bad people who make up the foundation of what Europe is today. It is what is called “History.”

In the same article I see where a Texas university is removing a statue of Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederacy. (If you’re a young person in public school you probably don’t know that we had a civil war in America. If you learned anything about the civil war you were told it was to remove the chains of slaves kept in captivity by the evil torturers in the south. If you are comfortable with that fable, keep that thought.)

Well, it’s good that Texas is forging ahead with removing the statue of that evil torturer Jefferson Davis. They have already removed the Confederate Flag from everywhere. How long will it be before Texas tears down the Alamo? Hey, that is a symbol of American imperialism and, of course, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico (there you go!), Arizona and California rightfully belong to the Mexicans. Actually, most of those states have already been taken over by illegal Mexicans, so all it would take is a referendum and vote to return them to their rightful owners.

Yes, the Alamo has to go. It is offensive to Mexicans and we really don’t want to offend anybody. And the Washington Monument is next because George Washington, as we all know, not only destroyed a fine cherry tree, thereby ruining the environment, but he also had slaves on his farm. I’m sorry to have to be the one to tell you, but it’s true. Of course, at the time, slavery was common across the world, and is still practiced in all the Muslim countries. Not that there is anything wrong with that, you understand. I don’t want to offend any Muslims.

It has occurred to me that while we are busy bees destroying our history, Europe is quite proud of maintaining theirs. Maybe we could ship Jefferson Davis and all of our offensive statues and flags to Europe. Then, anyone who is interested can go overseas to learn American History. What a great idea!
