Toothpaste, Toilet paper, and Corn Flakes

Before I die, there are several people I want to meet. You probably have thought about them also. No, it’s too late for Abraham Lincoln or JFK. But, nevertheless, these people fascinate me and I’d like to see them in person.

I want to meet the man or woman who puts that big air “bubble” in the middle of toothpaste tubes. You know, you are trying to squeeze one more brush out of a tube and “whoosh” the tube collapses. Of course, we know why they do that. The cost of air is…. ….nothing. So injecting a big space in the tube saves the Colgate Company a lot of money. But it pisses me off. I’d rather pay more and get a FULL tube of toothpaste.

Then, I’d like to see the marketing expert or consultant (you know what a consultant is, don’t you? It is anybody from out of town) who decided to make the cardboard tube in the center of rolls of toilet paper as big as a log. Again, it is the same principal. The bigger the tube, the LESS paper is on the roll. Therefore, Mr. Flush makes more money for less paper. How clever!

I’d also like to have a word or two with the Kellogg’s genius who tries to fool us with cute language. What they do is keep the Corn Flakes box the same size and price – but they only fill the box half full. And then they tell us, “There may be some ‘shrinkage’ due to shipping.” Really? You expect us to buy that malarkey?

It makes you wonder, doesn’t it? Is there anybody honest out there anymore? Anywhere? And, I haven’t even got to politicians yet!
