My favorite quote by Benjamin Franklin is this: “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neiter liberty nor safety.”
Do you remember the 4th amendment to the Constitution of the United States? In case you need a reminder, here it is. Read and remember it becasue it is the essence of American liberty. “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
Now I hope you will watch the linked video below. It is reminiscent of scenes from Hitler’s Germany in the 1930s and it is scary. In America the intention of the founders was that the citizens could feel safe and secure in their homes. Any normal person would recognize that the bombing at the Boston marathon was unusual, but it was not unprecedented. Since the 1980s Muslims have attacked American institutions in our country and abroad, causing death and injury to U.S. citizens. So while the Boston incident was a tragedy it DID NOT remove or override the constitutional protections for innocent Americans.
I can tell you honestly and as a prelude to what may occur in the future I will NEVER under any circumstances allow any authority to forcibly enter my home without a warrant issued by a judge. I WILL protect my home and my family by force from invasion by anyone, uniformed or not. At the risk of being melodramatic they will have to do it over my dead body.
