Well, nobody said I was perfect. (Actually, I did, but nobody believed me.) I had told you, my faithful Indian companions….no, wait…that’s faithful Native-American companions that I was taking a hiatus from the “Jack Steven’s Adventures” to write a “Hit Man” novel because I’ve always wanted to do that. And, true to my word I started on “The Man Nest Door” and have about half of it done.
But the response to “Tropical Daze” led to new readers going back to the beginning and ordering “Tropical Knights” so I thought if that’s what people like, that is what they should get. So “Hit Man” is back on the shelf and Jack and Amy (along with their faithful English companion Sir Millie) are off and running again. I have no idea where they are going or if they will make it out alive in this one – they seem to attract all kinds of bad people (mostly government types who have nefarious agendas). Jack, as you know, hates the CIA, they are such sneaky bastards, and yet Amy continues to work for them. Go figure!
Perhaps if the muse stays with me over the holidays I can put her/him to work on the next “Tropical” book and have it out by next fall.
My thanks to you who read and enjoy my little stories. I must admit that when one of them starts you have as much of an idea of how it will end as I do. I often complain to my long suffering wife, “I have nothing to write about!” and she says, “Aw, it will come to you,” and so far she has been correct. But then she is a lovely lady who puts up with a moody writer and is always surprised when I bring her flowers (which I do about twice a month, no special occasion, just because she loves them) and it gives me pleasure to see her genuine joy at a bouquet.
So wish me luck and keep your fingers crossed and a few four-leaf clovers wouldn’t hurt. And if God is with me and my fingers stay on my body I’ll have another Caribbean adventure for you in the fall of 2013. Take care, and happy holidays.
